B.C. local-election contribution rules
Verified against Elections BC information on 2026-07-28.
You must be a resident of British Columbia and either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Contributions must be made with your own money or property. Organizations cannot contribute or reimburse an individual.
The 2026 contribution limit is $1,429.70 to a local candidate or elector organization per campaign.
The campaign must collect the contributor’s full name, residential address, contribution amount, date, and confirmation of eligibility.
If your total contributions to the campaign are $100 or more, your name and contribution details will be disclosed in the campaign’s public financial report.
Local election campaign contributions are not eligible for a tax receipt.
Contribution rules can change. The campaign should verify this page with the financial agent and Elections BC before accepting online contributions.
